Metamorphosis

Well, honestly I think half of the reason that we dress up for Halloween, though not my favorite holiday, is because I really like tapping into our creativity to see what kind of costumes we can make from random stuff...the other half being candy!

There are lots of things I don't like about Halloween, but I hope I can teach my children to make something positive and fun out of something that the world often makes corrupt...so we choose to focus on something sweet, innocent, and creative. I think the kids really love helping me make the costumes and seeing their character take shape (literally) as they stuff it or put glitter on or whatever. This year they were a caterpillar and butterfly...as Richard said, "metamorphosis." (No Ryland is not a bee as one person thought) We met up with lots of friends at Church St., the Narnia kids (Isaac, Miriam, Amariah, and Jacob - their cousins), a cute little dragon (little Will), and many others. I wish we would have gotten pictures of them and all the Church St fun.

that is where everyone was! church st. we hardly got anybody this year. so sad. Heidi I so appreciate how much effort and creativity you put into their costumes. That is just what my mom would do. They were never something you just buy at a store (not that there is anything wrong with that), but bits and pieces here and there that became this amazing costumes. I hope to do that for BellaRose, but I am not that creative in that arena. Good job! Oh and we did add the tutu to the elephant costume. Just thought it would be cute.

Can Will join in on your costumes creation next year, I would o so much like it. I mean, what about the cacoon, you can't have metamorphasis without a cacoon, right?
you really are just so creative with these things, it's the highlight of my halloween every year. so glad we got to hang out on church st. with the Kings.
thank thank you for today, again.

I am so impressed by the creative costumes and I am sure your kids had fun watching and helping you make them.
Guess what, I got some sweet boots on sale at Sundance. Not the same as yours but very cool. Thanks for giving me the heads up on their sale cause they were gone the next day.
